Does anybody have a copy of the repair manual that lists the shop time to remove and re-install the driver's side axle? I was initially quoted by Acura dealership for 1 hour (which sounded low at the time..) after explicitly specifying what needs to be done and showing it to the service manager.

After the tech "looked at it" - he said it would be 3.5 hrs. ... I want to know what the repair manual says and whether I'm taking for a ride. I am ok with 2 hours... but $380+ I'm not convinced.

Thanks.

They can be super easy. I'm not sure on the NSX though, but I can swap an axle out on my accord in 20 mins.

Just make sure the tech knows what he is doing and does not remove the ball joint. After I got the hub nut off (2 days of new tools and soaking in PB Blaster) it was only about a 1.5 hour job for me (and it was my first axle replacement on the NSX). Over 3 hours seems a bit much for a trained tech with the right tools. My $.02.

I may be wrong, but I can't imagine that taking over 30 minutes or so with the right tools. I changed out my whole suspension in a little over an hour including looking for misplaced tools. :D

Thanks all for the info.. As I thought, I got taken for a ride, but whatever.
Anyway, the interesting thing that I'm experiencing now is.......... my trunk won't open when I press the button. It seems strange that changing the axle would have anything to do with it, but is there anything part of the job that might affect it? I checked the fuses, look ok.

It's very possible (and probably most likely) that it was not working prior, but I want to rule out that something happened at the dealership..

Try flipping the small switch located inside the glove compartment. Open the glove comp look to the left side of the comp. Flip that switch. Trunk should open using door button.

Thank you!! I will give that a shot. I probably would have spent an hour trying to figure it out before giving up!
