I just changed the coolant on my NSX. After a test run, I discovered a leak at the crush washers on the coolant pipes. The washers were purchased a few years ago from a local Acura dealer. After looking at the new washer that leaked vs the washer that was on the car originally, I understand the problem.
Looking at the picture, the original washer is on the right, the replacement washer on the left. The hole in the new washer is too large, so that when the plug is tightened, the washer can go off-center and leak. If you look closely you can see the skewed crush pattern on the washer. If you look at the original design washer, a very concentric crush pattern is evident.
Dimension wise, both washers have an OD = 15mm. However, the ID is 8.5 mm on the original vs 10.5 mm on the replacement.
Has anyone else run into this problem? The Acura dealer selected the washer via Acura part number, so this wasn't some random replacement.
