I've noticed a little coolant under the front of the car below the rad on the drivers side ,the last few times I've come back into the garage after taking the X out for a drive.. So I got underneath, and noticed the leak is coming from the radiator drain nipple on the bottom. The drain plug is tight and everthing looks dry everywhere else, so it is definetly coming from that drain nipple..... Any Ideas? TIA

Yes, replace the o-ring on the plug. It becomes a square-ring and leaks

There should be a plug on the top of the radiator too. Pull that one to match up the o-ring and replace both.

I have the o-ring part numbers listed in one of my DIY posts if you are inclined.

Thanks for the replies-- makes sense that it would be an o-ring .. But I looked in the service manual and never found anything to do with an o-ring on those plugs......But I'll do just!! Thanks

If you are not changing the coolant, order the drain plug as well as the O-ring. For the extra 5 bucks, you can do a very quick swap, loose little coolant and be done. I keep a spare plug around for this purpose;).

19011-PH2-004 plug or
19011-PV0-005 plug

Also it is a good idea to lube the o-ring with a little silicone grease for installation, so it does not bind and seals well.

BTW, I always replace these o-rings as part of the coolant hose service.

Meh, buy only two o-rings.

Pull the top plug, replace the o-ring and swap it out with the bottom one.

Take the [previous] bottom plug, replace the o-ring and install in the top position.

Looses the same amount of coolant. If you can park up-hill, so much the better.
