Coolant: Honda stuff or anything?

Does Honda specify a special coolant or does anything work?
Consensus here has been that it's worth sticking with the Honda coolant. Honda makes a point of saying it has no silicates or borates. You can get it from Honda dealers, it's not like Acura has a different formula.

My experience with the Honda coolant is that it doesn't generate crud in the system. I change every 2 years and the fluid that comes out looks like new. Whether or not another brand would be just as good, I can't say--but I am happy with the Honda product.

The way I see it, any price difference in coolant is trivial compared to what gas/tires/insurance costs over two years.

Yes. Use the Honda stuff.

The NSX has various aluminum pieces in the cooling system which other coolants and their additives can harm.

All cars today have aluminium pieces, so it won't be a problem going with something standard. But Tom239 has a good argument, thanks.

I recently change all the hoses and bought coolant from acura and honda they are same but the prize is $11 diffreance.

They are the same price at my dealers here in San Diego. I buy my coolant from 2 Honda dealers and 2 Acura dealers. Same price.

Some dealers do make their own special "List Price". One dealer that I don't do business with gave me 30% off but jacked up their prices 40% more than other dealers.
