There's a particular shift-knob that I really like, but apparently the only available one has a thread pitch of 10mm 1.25 (ie. Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, etc'...). Is there a way to convert 10mm 1.25 to 12mm 1.50 (Honda/Acura) thread pitch?

I'm not concerned about integrity/resale of the shift-knob, though I don't want to alter the shifter (shaft?).

Thanks.

drop it off at a machine shop...

you can retap it with a tap/rethreader.

Okie... sounds good to me! As long as it's feasible within reasonable DIY effort or shop (ie. Import/Tuner shop), I'll pursue this!

Appreciative of the insight, zahntech/John!

(pulling out Harbor Freight catalog/sale-paper... )

Being that this is not a component that will be holding many Ft Lbs of tourqe I would just retap it and see how it tightens down..if the shifter knob is alum you will need to put an insert in ...Timesert is the way to go.

If you were going from 1.5 to 1.25 you would for sure use an insert but going to a larger thread pitch you may be able to get away with it.
