converting kilometers to miles on instrument cluster

Hello everyone,

I just purchased a 1991 Acura NSX from Canada. I am getting it shipped to Florida (where I reside). My question is how do I convert kilometers to miles on the instrument cluster, and change the climate control from celsius to fahrenheit. Can the dealer do this and what is a fair price to pay. I already purchased gauges that read in miles, I just need everything converted now. Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Danny C.

Danny,

As far as the gauges I think you have everything you need. If you are replacing the gauges (faces) you will be OK. The gauge needle is at the same location (rotationally) regardless of the face plate, so for example: 62mph vs. 100km/h will be in the same location on the face. I also think that the odometer, IF you change the gauge cluster, might be OK too, but I am not sure 100% on that, since the change may be in the gearing of the odometer and/or the trans. I think it is likely though it IS in the odometer gearing, since I do not recall Acura making a "Canadian" trans.

As far as the climate control goes, I am thinking you will have to replace the unit, which you may just prefer to deal with the "C" readings once you get the price!

The speedometer is already marked in both kilometers per hour and miles per hour. On U.S. cars, the miles per hour are the big visible numbers and the kilometers per hour are the smaller numbers. On Canadian cars, it's reversed.

There may be some reasons NOT to replace the gauges etc - see related discussion here.

I have some extra gauge faces lying around. They are yours free. I'll try to dig them up.
