I have an older style tower brace for sale. I purchased it from Lud a few weeks ago but found it will not suit my needs. You must remove the engine cover to use this brace. If anyone is interested in removing the engine cover to show off theie engine this brace will work fine.

New from Comptech over $1300.00
I paid over $500.00
Asking $400.00 shipping included.

Hmm...

Anyone know if they will fit with a Cantrell
Concepts Aftermarket Engine cover or the
Gruppe M?

I've considered buying one,

Do you have any current photos of the strut bar? I'll be sending you a private email
in a few minutes as well..

Respectfully, I'm not sure this is entirely correct. I watched John Eagle Acura add all the Comptech goodies to this blue car, that Lud now owns. It has been several years, but I recall that the OEM engine hatch had to be modified from the bottom, not because of the strut bar but because of the supercharger.

If you look at the three mounting points for this bar, they are the same mounting points for the OEM bar. Also, each of the three corners of the triangle are "connected by a straight line", regardless for the Comptech bar or the OEM bar. Therefore, if the height of the Comptech bar is the same as the OEM bar, why won't the engine cover work with the Comptech bar?

Andy,

The mounting points are the same but on the OEM brace the two pieces that close the triangle are approx 4" from the end of the mounting bolts that attach to the frame.

Compare the comptech brace pic to the OEM brace and you can see the difference in where the bars meet.

If you look carefully at the Comptech brace you can see a little angled radius on the strut bar by the supercharger. The new Comptech brace comes straight down to the meet the bar near the rear of the engine and allows the engine cover to seat properly.

Scroll to the bottem of the page and there is a pic of the new style brace.

After this explaination I probably killed my chance's of selling this thing.

Thanks, my bad.

I also agree. What about flipping it upside down, or reversing just the shock tower bar? Just throwing out suggestions.

I tried every configeration possible. The only option is to buy the one piece from the new style brace from Comptech but they will only sell it as a complete set. Oh well I'll just wait and see.

Looking at the drawing from the installation instructions for the current brace, http://www.comptechusa.com/instructions/ins062.pdf I don't think you could simply replace that one right side brace anyway - it attaches at different point on the rear bar member & I would expect the angle of the bracket at the front to be different.
The suggestion was inferred but not directly made in one of the above posts - can't you modify the cover to give the necessary clearance? How about asking Comptech how they got this to fit originally? mailto:[email protected]
(hopefully the answer won't be that you need to buy either their new style brace or their targa engine cover!)
Good Luck!!!!!
