I just purchased a comptech airbox and plan on installing it this weekend. I read the instructions from comptech's website and it doesn't seem too bad,

Are there any tips anyone can give me to speed up the install or things I should watch out for?

Thanks - Ed

The snorkel part in the fender is aggravating, so just take your time. Go slow with the push pins that hold the inner fender liner in so that you can reuse them. I would remove the wheel/tire and the entire liner just to make it simpler to move around inside the quarter panel.

The OEM air filter does not fit in the base due to the rivets protruding into the interior from the mounting brackets, so you will have to trim some plastic from the filter frame for it to fit. I do not know about the UNI filter as I have never used mine.

Thanks.

Was it hard to remove the filler neck gasket? Also, what does it mean when they say "Install new outer ducting around filler neck" ?

I did this install a couple months ago. Getting the gasket off takes some time and more force than you would think, but follow the instructions. The toughest part for me was getting the carbon fiber piece over the fuel filler tube. No matter how many angles I tried I could not get it over it. Finally, I removed the two nuts that hold the tube to the frame, about 18" down from the top. That gave me enough room to wiggle the airbox piece over the tube. I wish that had been in the instructions. Also, make sure the part in the fender is seated fully. If not, the filler gasket piece (that you removed) will not set in all the way, then you will have to remove it again and make adjustments.

Typical install for the shade tree mechanic. It ended up taking me about 2.5 hours to do it. Now that I know how, I could probably do one in an hour. I was amazed at the change in sound I got. The sucking sound when your on the throttle is great.

Have fun. Let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks. It's hard for me to tell what you're talking about because I haven't started. Once I get into it, I'm hoping what you are describing becomes self efident.

Need some help... I can not seem to get the new carbon fiber lower aribox in no matter how I twist it... any tips??

It's done and I love it. Thanks for the tip to loosen up the filler neck bolts, it made a world of difference!

Why didn't they design the box so the the front of the air intake (the piece that's in the fender well, faced towards the front of the car where the air is coming in?
