I have a Comptech High Flow Air Box (carbon fiber)
on my 91 NSX. Under medium throttle, the filter area
appears to make a slight whistling sound similar to the
turbine blades in a turbocharger spooling up. I was
wondering what this noise was and if there is anyway
to amplify the effect. :-)

I originally thought that the whistling sound only comes from the cone filter type intake.

Doesn't comptech air intake system use the rectangular filter (shaped just like the stock one) rather than the cone filter like RM does?

I am surprised that even the rectangular one makes the same noise..

If anyone has any insight into this, I would love to hear. I love the whistling sound of RM, but am just concerned about its inefficancy in filtering the dust..

If there are other ways to create that sound, yet have the same filtering capacity as the stock one, I would love to know!

Comptech does use the stock size rectangular filter but it's specially made. I need to read the service manual again on my CF airbox to inform everyone properly regarding time intervals between replacment fliters and such.

P.S. I love the whistling sound of my intake too but my gf finds it annoying.
