Does a '92 have a cold start with increased rpm? When I start the '92, it idles at @ 1400. After driving for a minute, it will settle into 850 at idle. My soon departed '96 doesn't have the increase at cold start.
Yes, depending on the temperature of the coolant, there will be an extra amont of air that is bypassed around the throttle body and results in higher idle speed. This bypass is completely mechanical and independent of the ECU.
Case closed. Went out and started the '96 and it did kick up to a higher rpm. Never noticed before and I haven't driven it much in 3 weeks since it has been sold(awaiting payment/title transfer) and I got the '92 which I have been driving.
