Just received my KW v3 coilovers, and am in the process of installing them. Things were progressing pretty reasonably, and I got 3 installed without too much of a problem. However, the bottom of the rear driver's side won't fit. Either the bushings on the coilover are too wide, or the flanges of the bottom mount are too narrow.

Tried grinding the flanges, but it is hard to reach that area and make a smooth surface. I wonder if I can spread the flanges apart. I'm scared that I might break them if I try to spread them.

So, I was thinking it might be easiest to grind the bushings down a bit, since they are easier to handle:

Anyone ever run into something like this? Any other ideas?

I'd grind the bushing since you may install other shocks in the future and they probably won't have the extra thickness that these ones do.

My driver side was a tighter fit also, though I managed to squeeze them in okay. To get them in I'd grind down one of the spacers or a little on each if you're nit-picky. But I'd follow up with a call to KW and see if they can send out a pair that were 1mm shorter each (or whatever you think you need to gain clearance).

When installing my JRZs, I found that spraying that area with a good penetrating oil like PB Blaster or AeroKroil helped them slide in.

If it's not too much trouble, you can swap out the other side coilover and see if it fits easily. If it does then the manufacturer probably made a set of bushings too large. They should just fit right in without any issues.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up grinding the bushings a bit, and the strut slipped right in. In fact, it slipped in a bit too easily.
