Clutches? Flywheels? Gears?

I'm thinking that it may be a very good time for me to start thinking about getting an after-market clutch.

I did a few searches and found nothing relatively new or helpful...

I have a '91 TT and running the stock clutch. the TT kit has only been on the car for less than 3K miles, but I can already feel the trama that I'm exposing it to. I'm planning on increasing the boost to about 8psi, as soon as my AEM engine management system comes in. So technically, I will have more torque than the estimated 305lbs for the normal TT system.

I'm looking for a good clutch that can handle daily driving as well as several track events in the future. I've heard good things about comptech's ACT's and definately want a lightened flywheel. What are you guys running and what is recommended?

Also, someone had recommended me get the 4.23 short gears for my car, but after looking a the acceleration from 0-120, http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/drivetrain_performance_products/NSX/gears_LSD.asp, the gears really have no added benfit in time. I know that this would be a good time to add them, but if I'm not going to really feel them...then why spend the extra money? I want to keep my final drive and that is why I don't want to swap out my R/P.

thanks,
Allen

I second this question... I am leaning towards a light fly to go with my soon-to-be-installed short gear/4.235 trans, and would welcome comments comparing a light flywheel v. OEM.

Hi Allen,

I do track driving (NSX Trophy in Europe) and do also my everyday drive to work with my CTSC NSX.

I have shortgears and race clutch with ultra light flywheel from DaliRacing installed. For me this combination works perfect.

I have the tilton 7.8 pound fly and notice a big difference in motion.it is slower off the line dead stop.but unless you drag race thats not a big deal.for overall performance i love the light fly really well for rev matching

On my TT and Comptech I have used the ACT full setup. It is awesome! Still feels like a stock clutch but it grabs like superglue

It comes with the lightwieght flywheel too. I used to run Sachs but it was way too stiff. I can not speak for the Comptech since I have never used it.

I think the price for the ACT is around $1,100.00 Dont quote me though

so I guess I'm hearing nothing but good things in regards to the ACT clutches...

anyone using the Comptech clutch? or is it just overpriced compared to the ACT?

in regards to the car being slower off the line...I thought that lightened flywheels would help you off the line as well, not make you "slower".

could you please give me a few more details on what types of problems some of you lightened flywheel owners are having off of the line?

thanks,
Allen
