I got back from vacation today and took the car out for a spin. It felt fine in the afternoon, but when I drove home from work, the clutch seemed REALLY light. I could press it down at least 1/2 and get nothing. It normally engages very high for me. It feels like I only have the bottom 1/3 to engage the clutch and it is a little scary.

Is the clutch gone or is this perhaps something else? The clutch felt perfectly fine before I left. The car sat in a garage for 2 weeks.

As this is my daily driver, I need to get it fixed asap.

Thanks guys..

check the clutch master cylinders and the slave cylinder just wear items if that is the reason keep the fluid full otherwise it'll need bleeding and the car will not be drivable unless you keep bleeding it form the back.

My buddy had similar problem, and still don't know what it is. He changed the clutch disks only. No liking.

The clutch will engage very good when dropped quickly, but when slowly engaged it will almost like slip or something. Very light pedal feel.

I think that maybe the 3 alignment prongs on flywheel might be little rusted or something and it needs lube job. But I don't know. It would be easy to do by just removing the dust cover under the car on the crank case.

The mid plate might not be grabing the flywheel side if it will be stuck on the prongs. What do you thing guys ?

some 'spin' u must have taken her for!

The clutch fluid was empty. It was low at NSXPO,and now its gone. So I put more in, but I am wondering, how long does it take for the clutch to get back to normal?

Just filling the fluid may not be enough. You likely need to bleed the system.

It should then act correctly. But, obviously something is not right as you are losing fluid.

MAke the inspections and replacements as previously noted above.

If the fluid was gone you likely have air in the system and need to bleed it.

But more importantly if you are losing fluid like that, you probably have a leak. It's not uncommon to need to replace the clutch(or brake) master/slave cylinders on a 10+ year old car.
