Clutch Reservoir

thank you.

I was under the impression that was it. Now do you recommend Dot 3 or Dot 4?

As well does any one have an idea how much travel there is is the slave cyclinder when you push in the clutch pedal?

thanks!

DOT 4 fluid has a higher boiling point and resists moisture accumulation better than DOT 3 fluid. It's not much more so I'd get the good stuff :)

I think my slave moves around 1cm when I was looking at it last. It doesn't move much. If you're not tracking the car, Valvoline (white bottle / blue sticker) was some decent fluid for the price and seemed like the best of the off the shelf stuff at the auto parts store when I was there looking around. I forget what rating it is, but the minimum dry/wet boiling points were pretty decent.

Boiling points don't matter much with the clutch cylinder, as it doesn't generate heat like the brake system. You're ok using any DOT3- just make sure you change it every 2 years.

+1 to this. Although the moisture resistance of a higher-end fluid can buy you some time if you think you might get lazy and not flush it that often.

Whatever you decide, just don't buy a bunch extra to have for later. Once the seal is cracked, brake fluid will start to accumulate moisture just sitting on the shelf. It's practically pennies more to buy the good stuff and unless you have a tester to monitor the fluid for moisture (they are inexpensive on Amazon) it's handy to have the best fluid you can get. Just $.02 worth.
