So my clutch finally went out. It should arrive tomorrow at Vista Honda in Ventura. Way , way better prices than Acura down the street. $1280 for flywheel, clutch discs, press plate, throwout bearing , etc..

Is there anything else you guys recommend doing while the tranny is out? Polishing it maybe?

inspect axle boots, replace if necessary...
inspect oil pan gasket... only have to remove part of header (if stock)

common guys, there's no need to rebuilt the hole car just because of the clutch.:)

Rubber Boots, do the rubber boots.
Get them from Chris at SOS.
Do It now.

How many miles did you get out of it? The original clutch on my car failed at 130,000 miles and so far I have 45,500 or so on the new one.

Clutch went out at 140,000 miles. axles/boots look good as I replaced one of them a few months ago. oil pan was a bit loose, fixed that. everything else looks pretty good. Only problem i have is i was sent the wrong throwout bearing, so now i have to go find one, x my fingers, hopefully i can get one today. If not it'll just be a another few days of downtime.

My boots looked good as well.
Month later I was throwing Grease from one.
Had to pay for Acura to rip that stuff apart again.
I wont be stupid again and thats why I suggest it.

Sounds like they damaged the boot when they did the clutch.

Something like $1600-1700 + throw out bearing. So I was able to get the correct throwout bearing yesterday afternoon at Acura 101 West. Everything goes back together today. I'll post results later tonight.

i think i'mma go get a clutch at the same place you got it at , vista honda i live in the oxnard area to.. my clutch when out last friday atabout 154,000 miles. what else beside the clutch plates and stuff do i need. does the bear and stuff come with it?

*edit* i just called vista honda and they said they dont do it or order it and gave me the # to goldcoast acrua.. like you said they wanted 1700 for the kit

Wow, 140K! And Hugh as well. The guy who had my NSX before me must have been a dunce...I'm at 70K and it is time. He didn't get it adjusted every 30 either, so it is at the top as well.

As for the bearing, I was glad to read further down that you found one. The bearing for the NSX is the same as the bearing for the Legend (or so says my mechanic whom has given me every reason to trust him so far) so most dealerships will stock this part.

You need to speak to Julio, tell him I sent you. just give him the part numbers for the clutch and throwout bearing. he'll hook it up.

I just finished putting everything together, and when I stepped on the clutch it fell straight to the floor:mad:  . I jack up the car and notice a leak, and sure enough, its the slave cylinder that's leaking. I call Vista Honda to order the slave cylinder, Julio is gone already, and the guy that answered gave me the number to Gold Coast Acura as well. I dont think he knows how to order "Acura" parts, I dont know why , since they are Honda parts. I'll try again tomorrow, when Julio is back.

I think I paid $1000 for the OEM clutch kit from Acura of Escondido's ebay store.

So I finally finished the clutch job. What a PITA!! my slave cylinder had gone bad. None of the dealers around here had it in stock. Luckily an independent Acura/Honda repair shop ordered it and had it for me in a couple hours. Everything is back together and she is running good. I think I need to bleed the clutch cylinder more. also, the engagement point is closer to the floor/firewall. Now to break it in, sucks driving like grandma on the freeway.

Next time I need to replace the clutch, I might just take it in to a shop. then again, I know how to do it now, so who knows.

It's currently at 1170$+Shipping which is 49$ to your area.

so $1219.00

These things are a good investment  I should have bought a couple last year then when I got mine, then I could be making money off of them.

You definately need more bleeding. I would say about 100 miles of usage and you will see the pedal come right back up to it's normal position;). It kind of self-bleeds with use. Not that I recommend that.
