Hey guys,

Where can I get a clutch in Canada? I'm looking for an RPS or Exedy, and if they can give me a good deal so much the better.

My oem clutch with only 15,000kms is starting to let go! The weekend spent chasing down F and P cars are starting to take its toll. Need something quick as my Hanson date might be affected.
:frown:

I have the RPS clutch but I had it done at Autowave in Cali when I was down there about 3 years ago. The RPS clutch is VERY stiff to depress and that might not be to your taste... The Exedy might be a better way to go and more readily available.

I don't know that many shops have experience with the RPS whereas Autowave worked with RPS while they were developing it for the NSX. I'm sure most shops have experience and can get a better deal on the Exedy. Talk to Mikey, he is getting his clutch done and I believe he is going with the Exedy...

Thanks for the input.

I thought all along that RPS was the one that was most like oem? I checked the SOS site on exedy and it says even the stage one is "race application".

Another option is to go with their oem rebuild, but given what's happened to my oem I am not sure if its worth it.

In any case, anyone know of a Canadian immediate source for a clutch?

Erin Mills might be able to source the Exedy and do the work... Speedstar can also do it.

Don't be fooled... the RPS is nowhere near OEM in pedal feel. It's probably 5x or more stiffer to depress... The exedy may say race but the pedal is only be slightly stiffer (depending on the model). Everyone who I've spoke to and felt thier Exedy clutches were just slightly stiffer than stock which is probably to most people's liking. If you can, find someone who has an Exedy and feel it.

Well, the problem is I am in Ottawa, so I just need to source the clutch and have my mechanic here do it. Do you think Erin Mills or Speedstar stock this thing?

Seems like Stage 1 exedy is the way to go.

The only NSX part that Erin Mills stock, I think, are oil filters. No way they'll stock an aftermarket NSX clutch. There may be a STOCK NSX clutch in Canada - that may not even be the case. Almost all of the stock parts Ive needed have had to come from the US or Japan.

I have had no problems with my stock clutch yet.

360hp at the wheels too

If I go exedy, which one should I get?

If clutch pedal pressure is an issue, you might consider SOS improved OEM clutch. It should handle SC applications with little extra force on the pedals. I would have purchased it instead of a new OEM if they had them in stock. Unfortunately, they had a 2-3 day wait before they were in and my car was up in the shop at the time.

Good luck in your search.

Thanks for all the helpful posts. I think I am going with an Exedy Stage 1 or 2. I might have a direct connection with Exedy (at least a friend of mine does) so this might actually be the most cost effective. Gotta love jdm connections ;)

Ugh, last week I was dying for a new clutch, now I have 2!!!

Does anyone need an RPS?

Seriously, PM me.

Can anyone help I just had a shop put in a new clutch and its not letting go that well and grinding, but when off the gear go through just fine is there a adjuster or something we are overlooking?

How's your clutch fluid level?

Your Master/slave cylinder may be bad

Bunch of things too look at...where are you located?

I'm sure we can help!

(where did you get the clutch done, and what do they say?)

I had the same problem with my clutch, it would go every season. #1 thing is to check slave and master cylinder. I have tried almost every clutch found exedy to be the best, especially the single disc with carbon plate. Erin Mills Acura would be the best bet. Talk to a guy named Kal, he knows his stuff with the NSX, when changing use redline clutch fluid, helps alot.

Good Luck

Good thing Stu was paying attention at the seminars at NSXPO - or he'd be giving you some other advise

Clutch fluid... the master and slave won't go unless you've got an aftermarket clutch that requires a lot more pedal pressure than the OEM, a fairly old master / slave and or you are running on fluid that is long spent...

check your Clutch fluid first. New fluid is CLEAR like water! unless you are using a colored brake fluid. Semi-worn fluid is a light brown color. If it's dark brown or the worse case possible dark green with bits in it... flush it ASAP.

If it's got bits in it, it's likely that your master / slave are spent and those are rubber bits deteriorated from the master. If you are going to change the master, might as well change the slave...

check all your fluids frequently... flush the clutch fluid at the beginning of each season if like...
