Nothing. That's the way it works.
 
Check your service manual for correct adjustments. You will find when adjusted correctly, as Dtrigg said, that's the way they are.

You can play around a little here and there to move the engagement and disengagement up or down, but you really need to be careful that you don't end up in a situation where your not getting full seperation of the clutch plate to the flywheel or full release of the T/O bearing.

Both lead to bigger problems.
 
Well the pedal should have some free play at the top , at least 1-1.5" so if it does not you can adjust it at the pedal as coz said, refer to your manual.
