Reason for clutch damper blowing apart was due to the throw out bearing coming apart. It seems when the bearing split in half and the fork bottomed out, the remaining pressure from master cylinder, my foot on the pedal, caused a hydrolic shock wave breaking the next weakest link, clutch damper. Took out the tranny this weekend and installed a new clutch set (Exedy Hyper Single) to replace the dual set-up. Let me say, changing the clutch isn't really that bad on this car. A lot of parts to remove before you get the tranny off but straight forward. I got caught up on the axels for awhile, but alas. Extra time spent to go have the throw out bearing pressed into the pressure plate diaphram fingers. Did that at work. Good to work for a big company that has a machinist shop. Other time was spent laying on the garage floor looking up at the settup to ensure all would go well. Did it all by my self. Two long days, but I took my time and studied every aspect. Went back and forth to the computer a lot. Many printed pages. The next time I could see doing it in under 6hrs.
