Climate Control Vents

I have been having a problem with my climate control . Specifically it would only blow on full fan hot and full fan cold. After researching this I replaced the blower motor and power transistor. This was not it. I suspect bad capacators in the head unit and will send it off to Geherd Langerth (sp?) in AZ this weekend once I pull the unit.

Today I noticed that even in the full cooling mode the air is only blowing through the side vents and nothing is coming from the dash vents. However by using the mode selector I am able to direct air to the floor and dash; just can't direct it to the main dash vent.

After studying the manual I am confused. Is this an additional sympton of the climate control head unit getting worse or is there a vent motor that may have gone bad as well. I was very careful and particular with the blower motor and power transistor R&R.

This is a 91 NSX.

Any help well appreciated.

This is a long shot, but behind the center console vent is an 8 inch black plastic ring used for directing the flow off the blower toward the vents. This piece just sits freely in position. It may have turned on its side from a previous install or not be in there at all or moved in weird way. Pop out the vent and take a look. It's pretty obvious and might be woth a try.
Good Luck

Thanks, I'll take a look at it this weekend. I have to pull out the vents to get to the climate control head unit.

I'm guessing it's the head unit but thought it could be something else. I was hoping somebody else had been through this previously.
