Climate Control Unit Diagnotic Test

I appear to be having the same climate control unit problems many others have faced. Namely, blower only appears to work when on HIGH, or when I turn the temp to the coolest setting and the blower on AUTO. The air coming out is always cold (even when the TEMP is on the hottest setting, and the blower is on the HIGH setting), which sucks in the mornings. The 'mode' settings also don't change which vents release the air flow.

The previous threads helped alot, and before I actually pulled about the dash and removed the control board, I wanted to run the diagnostic test outlined in the manual http://www.blazen.com/mike/nsxmanual/page.php?page=900 ... but I appear to be a complete retard.

Following the intructions, I can't appear to get the board to run it's internal diagnostic test. I turn the car on, move the blower control to full auto, and it does nothing... unless i have the temp control on its coolest setting, then it will blow air.. but it never cycles through the various modes or anything..... I must be doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out. The instructions are very straight forward.... heh.

this is why i should stick with software....

There are 2 different diag. tests. One that cycles through all the modes and one that shows what part of the system (damper motor or sensor) is malfunctioning. When I finish repairing a CCU I normally use the second one to test it. Fan speed set to auto and the unit in full auto, turn the temp setting to min for 1 min and then to max for one min and then press off and auto at the same time. The problem is indicated by what's displayed.

Dianostic test or not, 99% chance you will have to pull the climate control and replace some caps.

good luck

Thanks folks.

I tried the test again tonight, the way Briank describes. When I hold in the AUTO and OFF buttons the A/C and ON LED's light up, which would be (F) Air Mix Control Motor and G Mode Control Motor. Sounds exactly like the other folks who were able to fix it by replacing or fixing the CCU/board.

Guess I'll be sending out the boad soon. :)
