Briank said:The display is florescent so it needs a high voltage supply, that would be the first thing I would check. I have a dead display that I will be working on in a couple of weeks will see what kind of success I have.

What/How did you fix?
Would it be a common fault or a fluke?
Testing/Diagnosis procedure?
We want to know!
Briank said:I did a side by side comp. of the bad board with a good board and found a bad transistor. That transistor looks like its part of the chopper circuit for the high voltage supply that the display needs to light up. Its common to have the display to go off, having a bad transistor is just one of the reasons. Damaged traces from leaking capacitors is the other.
