 Thank you NSXprime & briank...
Shortly after buying my '91, my CCU would only work intermitently. Then, stopped working completely. (no display,no function) I was told by my local dealer that a whole new unit would cost about $2,000! Considering that I have 5 other cars to maintain, this was not good news. I heard about this website & began to look for info. On numberous occasions, brianks' name came up for CCU repair. After a couple of emails I was convinced to try the $150 fix.
Brian also indicated that seldom did the front part of the unit go bad (display) and usually all problems were caused by the back half (computer board). Just in case, I priced the units at discount (still $580 or $850). Brian also gave me the info.,threads from this site & helpful hints in order to remove the unit & console....Long story short...Everything works perfectly! Brian, you are a guru! ( not to mention saving me a pile of money! ) Removal took approx. 45 min. & refitting about 30 mins.
Thanks again nsxprime and briank...could not have done it without either of you! ...Not bad for a girl, right?... Deborah in Knoxville

I lived in Knoxville for years and loved it, but that sounds exactly like Harper Acura. Glad you got it fixed without 'em! If you see a white NSX on game weekends, wave and say hi!

I would also like to give thanks to Briank for fixing my ccu.
He got it on 01-18-05 and I got it back on 01-22-05. Thanks for the quick service and it works perfectly.

Brian also fixed mine last month (sounds like he has been very busy).....
I have nothing but praise for the excellent job performed and the quick turn around time. For anyone else needing their CC unit repaired (and not feeling confident in doing it themselves), Brian is the answer!!!!

Interesting what Deborah relayed from Brian. So I guess my question is this: If the front (display) rarely goes bad... what's wrong with mine? My display went intermittent before completely dying. However, functions still work just fine. I'd like to get it fixed, just don't know where to start.

So is this a minor or major fix? Is it something where I could remove the CCU from the dash and take it into an electronics shop to have repaired or would I have to take it to a dealership or send it out to someone, say you, to have it worked on? Any idea on a rough estimate of what it would cost to repair it, if it is indeed the caps leaking? Your advice is much appreciated.

I think it’s a minor fix but I have done enough of them so it's getting routine.
Looking at the cost for new parts its major.

Many electronics shops can replace the bad capacitors and attempt to repair the board damage caused by those caps leaking. Unfortunately that does not always fix the problems. If you take it to the dealer they will install new parts $800 for the control board and $1000 for the display. You can send it to me or one of the other sources to have it repaired, do a search here on prime.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely get in touch with you in the next couple months. I just finished repairing my front lip, weather stripping along the door, and painting the brake calipers. After I finish the lexan engine cover, repairing the CCU will be in the next round of work done, along with the trunk struts.

Another bump for BrianK. Sent my CCU board to him and within a week it was returned. Put it in that same day and my climate system is fixed! Brian performs world class service.

I'm one happy new NSX owner. The previous owner was quoted $1800 to fix the climate control and the power transistor. She took that off the selling price of the car. I came out really well on the deal since it only cost $150 to fix! Guess I can get the T/B and W/P serviced on the savings!

Thanks again Brian.
