Unfortunately I can't find my issue of NSX Driver that has the procedure for cleaning out the throttle body. I have an OBDII car and I remeber there is an extra step involved. I tried searching the forum but I can't find any step-by-step procedures. I even searched the Wiki with no luck. Thanks in advance!

I just cleaned my dirty throttle body about two weeks ago. The car had a very rough idle and, just as I expected, the throttle body was nasty. A good cleaning fixed my idle problem.

I got some generic carburetor cleaner to do the job. Many people here recommend Seafoam cleaner.

First, remove the accordion-style rubber connector between the airbox and the TB.(easier said than done) Spray the product liberally and let it dwell for a bit. Open the throttle plate and spray behind it too. Once the spray has had a minute or so to begin breaking down any deposits, wipe off the surface with a rag. You probably will have to repeat this process a few time to get everything clean. A flashlight and a small mirror can help you see if you got everything. It can be tricky to get to the deeper parts without removing the unit from the engine. I wrapped the rag around a long screwdriver and that gave me enough reach to clean the more difficult areas.

Thanks for the reply! Is your car OBD I or OBD II? The reason I am asking is because I read somewhere that for the OBD II cars, you are also supposed to spray the cleaner in a particular hose. Man I wish I could find my NSXDriver issue that had the full pictorial!
