Cleaning NSX... What is this and Do I need it?

I ran into this part. It is the cover above the drivers seat. It has the drivers side foot well floor lamp on it. Next to it is this thing and I am not sure what it is or does. Any one know what this is?

Also can I live without this thing?

If I were to leave this part off so it th light does not drain my race battery when I am working on the car?

That "thingy" is the "auto-pig ejection device". If it senses a really ugly woman in the passenger seat is releases explosive bolts blowing off the roof at the same time igniting a minituarized JATO pack underneath the passenger seat.

LOL. I had one of those back in the day, but mine consisted of a size 13 to the hip.

Thanks! I appreciate it! Did u photoshop your liscense plate off or is something else happening in your avtar? Taj... stay tuned as I have a few more questions about parts in the same area that u might know about!

I will test tonight to verify and post some more pics of the other parts. I can not get the PDF of the manual to work. My mac is acting up and I need to get this work done.

But yeah. That is unneeded weight.

That is correct. In the 1993 Service manual it is illustrated on page 23-166
