OK, long story short. Wife and I recently purchased a home on a lake. The seller gave us a 15' fiberglass canoe. The thing is filty. What's the best way to clean it? I want to wash, polish and seal. Maybe I should ask this question on a Corvette forum...

Thanks in advance.

The best way I have found to clean my boat is to have someone else do it. I did it myself once. Never again.

strip & clean/wax...

There's a few different brands of 'stripper' that is safe for fiberglass and other similar materials, yet powerful enough to remove layers of paint, corrosion, varnishes, stains, gunk, algae, and whatever else... w/o any effort or scraping! Just goto Lowes or The Home Depot, look in the paint aisle near mineral oils, thinners, removers, and strippers.

Once you got the surface as you want it, you can use just about any wax available (whether carnuba-based or synthetic/polymer). I just bought a bottle of Meguiar’s #50 Marine/RV Cleaner Wax (#56 is pure wax, only).

I use it for the area underneath the side-skirts (parallel to the ground), underside of rear-valance, AND my brand-new wheels (they have nice clear-coat on them from the factory, which I want to preserve).
