Can you guys recomend something that will help remove all the grime, grease and road tar build up on all the alluminum A arms and tie bars. I am looking to spend sometime and clean up that area. I want something strong enough to help but not strong enough to cause any damage to bushings and boots.

Thanks
Armando

Wipe off all the looser stuff you can with a damp rag or brush. Use "Goo Gone" or "De-Solv-It" to remove grease and tar. The grime will go with "Formula 409", or one of the "Green" products. Rinse off with clean water. Of course, there are probably products that will claim to be specially formulated for aluminum, but I think you will find these general use products to be safe and effective.

The original owner of my NSX had an undercoating sprayed (very liberally) on to the underside. There was also overspray on some of the A-arms. Yesterday i had my car on a lift and was able to access the bottom of my car for some cleaning. I sprayed carb cleaner on the metal parts and wiped them clean. The carb cleaner took the undercoat spray right off (Some thick areas needed a little more elbow grease). I would also recommend simple green. It works well too.

Thanks for the tips guys, I will pick up some or maybe alot of the Simple Green, now for the elbow grease ........... Ill ask my wife if she has any :)

Once you get all the goop off (the products listed above are good) you may want to go further. Eagle One makes an aluminum cleaner that works well, or you can think about polishing the parts. A demel tool and some small polishing wheels (and an afternoon of your time) would make the A-arms look terrific. You can then paint them with a clear coat to make future cleaning easier.
