My father had two while I was growing up. The first one he had shipped to Zurich when we lived there while he was in the army when I was about 1yr old. It was blue and had a 4spd. The second one was in the 80's and it was silver/red but was an automatic. I love the look of the car, but they are a bit floaty feeling when you drive them. I never liked the re-styled ones that came out in the 90's. I think his first one is now in a museum in Atlanta.

i just might, doug, but i moved the nsx to the driveway for the winter while i work on my motorcycle and bicycle projects... i've got nowhere to park it except the driveway.

i'm betting it'll be there a bit longer....

i'm curious if you've used http://www.searchtempest.com in your efforts to locate / price another car. it searches craigslists and lets you define the parameters (distance, keyword, price, etc) so you can see what's available across the nation, if you like. it can also include ebay results.

i've been using it for boat / motorcycle stuff and think it's great.

out running errands today i realized i hadn't responded to your post, doc - apologies.

wow - two avanti's... very cool. i wasn't a fan of the 2nd+ gen cars either but (from a distance) i've always thought avanti's were bitchin' cars. my dad had a supercharged blackhawk(?) in '64 and it seemed like a very fast tank to me.

i'll likely never buy one but if there was another car (i didn't drive much) in my future, it would probably have to be an early avanti.
