CHP thick on 101 & 280

Last week during the day I saw the CHP running tandem speed traps with radar guns and clearly writing tickets. Those tickets are expensive. Wonder where the fines go? Some to the Courts, but the rest?

And I saw a very disturbing site on Friday afternoon near SFO; a CHP had pulled over a taxi with a fare in the back seat! When was the last time anyone saw the CHP pulling over cabs? They have, until now, left taxis and even limos alone. Especially near the airports. Well today coming to my office off of 101 near Sierra Point, about 11am, I witnessed another CHP pull over a yellow taxi van off the freeway obviously enroute to SFO.

Be careful out there fellow NSX'ers and whatever else you are driving. The blue & black ink is flowing in an obvious effort to make green.

A lot of those taxi drivers around SFO are always speeding. Plus, lots of them are bad drivers. Gotta make up for that budget shortfall.

Be careful out there.

not a bad idea in any event, eh? :)

~11am today i made a run to downtown sj from campbell. on my return trip i took 280 -> saratoga and saw there were multiple chp's issuing tickets in both directions. in addition to budget issues, it seems to me we're hitting the holiday season increase in police visibility re drunk driving enforcement, etc.

whether to avoid a ticket or an accident, be careful out there.

Hay, that's great for slipping in and out of town. See you got your new windshield installed. Once you get that new fold down top installed you're good to go all year round.

Those new CHP uniforms and helmets are a bitching.

Happy Hoverounding...

If that does happen to anyone, who's going to be the one to say, "We aren't the droids you're looking for". Then wait a moment for the breathalyzer to appear and be asked to "please step out of the car"...yea, IB chilling at the posted too..

hahahaha, that'd be a hoot.

back in '69, a friend and i were returning home (to concord / pleasant hill) late one night after we'd help put the oakland tribune to bed. (i was a copyboy, he was a sports stringer)

we were in his datsun 510 (i believe it was) and were doing somewhere near 60 in downtown (it was >1am) when an oakland cop pulled us over. when the cop approached the driver's window, he tapped the window with his flashlight and steve rolled the window down. before the cop could say a single word, steve leaned to his left and said, "i'll have a cheeseburger, order of fries and a large coke. hal what do you want?"

i thought i would die right on the spot.

fortunately, the officer had a sense of humor, wrote steve a ticket for a taillight (steve told him we were with the tribune, which meant something back then) and we were on our way.

although he did go on to national media prominence, i'm not sure steve would handle it the same way if he had it to do over again.

but doug would with his hoveround!
