first, i read the faq. that said, anybody on the list with a chip care to comment on life with/without it. seems to be an inexpensive mod, but are the benefits worth it? will be doing headers and exhaust. contemplating intake, but my reading tells me little performance gain, if any, just aural gains. thanks.

I have found that on turbo or sc cars a chip makes a noticeable difference by altering the boost and timing. But on a na cars they make only small hp gains (less than 10hp)and on a vtec less than that if any.

..what's the point then of doing the mod then? is it just a tweak or petrolhead mod? afterall, 10hp isn't gonna win u a drag race, and VTEC only kicks in 80miles (or something like that.. beyond ur 'legal' speed limit anyway)

...if doing a chip mod was like overclocking a CPU, that would be cool.

"Hey man, i got a P4-3.06GHz chip in my car & 512MB RAM" :P

This was the most comprehensive and "scientific" test done to date:

I have DC Sports Headers, Exhaust, K&N filter and noticed a performance enhancement that is backed up by the dyno numbers from the test with the Dali chip. It does bump up your rev limiter a little and you may want to get the Comptech billet gears for the oil pump if you spend much time at VTEC max.

Despite earlier posts - the Dali chip maintains the rev limiter as well.

In other words - I like it a lot and it was one of the best $/hp mods I ever made.
