Checking Block For Stress Cracks a Waste of Time?

Does anyone do dye penetrant testing on the engine when they rebuild? Mine is a '92 w/ 125k miles. Going to build for ~500RWHP.

Should I do this test or is it a waste of time?

I don't think it would be a waste. Some aircraft have regular inspections on there parts for stress cracks and what not. I actually was told about a stud that needed changed out because it had a crack and you couldn't even see it.
