I hit half of a truck tire on the interstate the other morning at 80 mph in the dark on the way to work. Made me sick, and for a while I thought I got away with it, but it was much worse than I thought. It cracked the lower valence in half and I lost the rubber spoiler completely. It also wiped out the wheel well liner (two pieces) and of course that nifty little tow hook cover was history. VERY expensive incident, to say the least. I'm glad I already had plans to have the car touched up the following week. At least it happened at a time when it didn't destroy any plans.

Had all of that replaced and both doors repainted too for nicks and a door ding. Now the car is in the best shape it's been in for quite some time - but it's a driver. I put 500 miles a month on it now, and love every mile except that 1/4 mile with the tire!

Tough to do, but I'll try NOT to put myself in a position where I don't have anywhere to go should something on the road sneak up on me.
I tried to post pics here and all I get is messages saying they are too big - so look in the member's gallery under MegaZap and you'll see the new hood and front end!
I love the way the car looks now.

I can speak for all of us here on Prime. Glad you came out okay- wish I can say the same for the car. At least it held up pretty good, meaning you did not lose control of the vehicle.

Post some pics of your car- loved to see the work done to it.

Thanks guys! I'm still learning about posting photos, and really appreciate the posting and the kind words.

I'm very happy with the results of the bodywork, but unfortunately I expect it will happen again. :frown: There's too much junk on Texas roads! You hit the nail by putting things in perspective. Maintaining control is the key to limiting damage.
