For the car to do 3.3/3.2 0-60, even with AWD on a 3800 lb car has to have more thatn 500 HP.

In comparison, the F430 makes ~400 RWHP and rated at 480 HP.
The ZO6 makes ~430 RWHP and the 505 HP is considered conservative as well as it can hit high 10s with slicks stock..

I'd love to have this as my grocerry getter :)

Perfect for Hulk Hogan's son when he gets out of jail.

He has to find a new friend who wants to be put in a coma because of his stupidity...errrr driving first.

Great power numbers. MT estimates 507 hp w/ a 15% drivetrain loss which they note is very conservative and is probably more like 20-25% considering the FE and AWD. That means that realistically bhp is in the 525-550 range. Very impressive.

There are few cars on the road putting down over 425 hp to the wheels.

20% minimum, between 20-25% is more realistic given the drivetrain configuration, putting it around 550-560hp. The V-Spec is supposed to be 200lbs+ lighter and at least 50hp more powerful. Considering a significant portion of that will probably also come from rotating parts [wheels, brakes, etc.], it's going to be a monster in every sense.

That car is insane fast. I expected it to be close to the Z06 and 911 Turbo, but in the new Road and Track it KILLED them both around a racetrack. It wasn't even close.

People have been getting 500-600 hp reliably for years with Japanese Turbo V-6s. And with relatively few mods and low cost. It's about time that the manufacturers realize that and do properly what the boy racers have done for years.

too bad no dealers (that I have called) will commit to selling one for mspr....:(

Impressive performance.

Too bad it's still uglier than sin and only comes with a lame floppy paddle shifter gearbox.

No thanks.

Impressive Dyno. I talked to a friend over the wknd. He has bought atleast 7 Nissans from the same dealer in Austin. He was 1st on their list for the GTR. He went to buy a Titan for them last week. While he was there they advised him that they wanted $25k over sticker for the car. He was in the middle of closing the final price on the Titan when he found out. He walked out and bought a Tundra the same day.

How fast do you think the court systems move? He was just barely charged, he still has to go to trial and be found guilty, which will likely take years. After that comes sentencing.

I know they move slow but NsXMas's reply lead we to believe he had been sentenced, sorry for asking  .

The latest R&T (May 2008) has the GT-R on the cover - spanks the P911 Turbo and C6 Z06 in a test - road/highway and track (buttonwillow)

The reviews are telling...

"here we discovered that not only did the GT-R measure up to hype, it sliced it to pieces with a samurai sword"

"Japan's new super coupe has caught and surpassed the German thunder car, meaning that now, when you say Porsche, there is a substitute"

"at $xxx, the Corvette Z06 is still one of the best deals on the planet... only now it may have company."

The track #s of the GT-R were quite impressive:
- 6 sec a lap faster at Buttonwillow
- on average, cornering speeds +5 mph faster
- speed @ brake marker ~6-7 mph faster
- slalom speed +3 mph faster (faster than a Ferrari Enzo)

Pretty impressive... Nissan has moved the chains again.

Hope the folks at Honda are watching.
