I finally went to a dealer because I've gotten several CELs in the last year, always at full-throttle high rpm's in 2nd. There is no loss of power and it runs perfectly. They checked the code and could find no history of a CEL occurance. While the tech waited, I took the car out and ran it to the red line in 1st and 2nd (usually when it happens) about 5 times and couldn't get the CEL to set. The tech there suggested it might be a sensor that malfunctions only when the car is not hot. As I recall, I usually got the CEL just minutes after being on the road. Suggestions?????

If you have pulled the clock fuse since the CEL came on last time then it won't have the codes anymore.
I had a CEL come on about a month ago and was still able to retrieve it the other day. It solved a mystery I had about my car too.
Anyways, I assume you know how to pull the codes yourself correct?
If not, I'll tell you.
Passenger side footwell there is a connector that hangs down from the dash area. It is under the carpet probably. I believe it to be a two wire connector. You take a piece of wire about 2inches long and strip a bit of the insulation back from either end. Stick each end into the connector and turn the key to make all of the idiot lights to come on. The CEL will then flash to give you your code. The service manual lists what each code means. If you don't have a service manual, you can post it here or PM me and I'll look it up and tell you.
