Just wondering.. surely NSX is not the first NA cars ever produced for the public. but however its chasis code is NA1. I wonder if theres any other cars's model # is NA1 aswell. And How do they name the Body Code? Rx7 is FD3S if I remember correctly.. based on what they gave each car their code? Besides NSX cause.. DUH NSx is NA thus NA1 aka theres NA2 of NSX..

I believe NA1 is the Honda internal model designation for the NSX. Each Honda model will have a 3 letter code. For example, '91-'95 Legend Sedan was KA7, while the coupe was KA8. NA2 is the 3.2l NSX. I'm sure Honda has their way of assigning the codes, but I don't believe that it has anything to do with the engine being NA, or other outside influences.

NA1 and NA2 are more like chassis/model codes. C30A and C32B are the engine model codes for the 3.0l and 3.2l respectively. For example, a 2001 may be a NA2, but it may still have a 3.0l engine if it is an automatic which would be a C30A instead of a C32B (3.2l).

The NA1 or NA2 is the engine code and its NSX specific. It has nothing to do with the NSX being an NA car. It's also a part of a car's VIN #. Here is a Volk TE37 fitment guide that provides the engine code on some of the models.

According to the FAQ the NA1 does signify it is C30A and the NA2 does signify C32B. I have a '01 NSX-T automatic and the Vin starts out as JH4NA1. Even according to Acura, 2002 automatics all have a Vin with NA1. I think this NA1 and NA2 is all inclusive of the chassis and engine and its only specific to the NSX.

For example, maybe in the future Honda might decide to build a car that has a variation of the 3.2L engine of the NSX, that engine code could very well be C32B. But the code that's listed in the Vin will be specific to that car, although it will mean, when decoded, that the car is so equipped with that engine. Just like Mitsubishi's potent 4G63 engine that's in the Lancer, old Galant VR4 and old Eclipse. They all share basically the same engine, but the vins will be different.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I feel that the NA1 and NA2 gives you more information about the car itself. You know its an NSX. If someone told me their car was a 6G72, I would have to think long and hard exactly which car they are talking about. 6G72 is the engine code for the 3000GT, but there are 2 variations of the 3000GT, Z15A and Z16A. All have the same 6G72 engine. Z16A is the newer model.

So the chasis code goes with the engine type? I see.

is there any other car called NA1?

I edited my post to clarify my thoughts on this matter. Please see above.

Nope, that's what I'm trying to say. NA1 and NA2 will always be unique to the NSX.

There exists a possibility that in the future some honda cars will possess the C30A or C32B engine, but they won't be NA1 or NA2 respectively.

To sum it up, all NA2s are C32Bs, but not all C32Bs are NA2s. We all know this isn't true for the NSX, but I think this is the easiest way to get my point across.

Are there any 2002 NA1s available in the United States? I think you would have to special order an automatic these days.
I would like to buy one but the dealers in Canada are sticking to the MSRP of 140k.

I think Niello Acura had a 2002 automatic for sale. I think they had a full page ad in the dupont registry awhile back.
