I tried changing the rotors but I cannot...why? cuz the two phillip screws are holding the rotor to the hub. I cannot get it off no matter what. I used WD40 and heat to see if that would help but no use. I even used a drill with an attached philips driver. No use. it doesn't even turn. the threads are pretty much damaged but would still grip. What can I do? what do you guys use to take it out? Anybody sell these screws somewhere else so I put new ones in? pls. let me know what you think I should do. Thanks in advance guys!

You need an Impact driver. Pick one up at any autoparts store for $12-$15. It's the only way to get those screws out.

You tried a phillips head and wonder why you can't get it lose....haha! You need to go to Home Depot or any other store that sells tools and buy an impact wrench. It's basically a screw driver that you hit with a hammer that turns the screw very slowly. If you stripped the screw head already you may need to drill out the screws. When you do get the screws out, you'll need to find another bolt that screws into the rotor and pushes it off the hub.

It should take no more than 10 minutes per rotor to replace, but it seems that you may have already done some damage to the screw that may require you to bring it to a shop.

Good Luck.

That's what you need, but you may find that the price is closer to $20-25...

I had stripped the screw head of one of the two screws that holds the rotor on. If it's really bad, just drill the screw until it's mincemeat and falls apart. That's what I did. I used an impact wrench to get the others off.

The screws just keep the rotor seated on the hub while the lugnuts are off so even one is enough. Replacement screws can be had at a hardware store (I think they would have something similar that would fit) or the Acura dealer.

Impact wrench as mentioned...

And you can forget WD-40, IMHO. It's pretty much useless as a penetrating-bolt-loosening agent. You want PB Blaster Penetrating Catalyst.

It's the best for tough and rusted fasteners like that.

Thank you all for your great input. I'll go buy an impact driver. Now, let me see if I got this rigght. The impact drivers bolts on to an impact wrench right? cuz I do have power tools with impact wrench. is this right?

Good deal on the Impact Driver from Harbor Freight. It's $20-25 at Sears.

Liquid Wrench is a product similar to PB Blaster.

No. The impact driver is a stand-alone tool with a (removable) Phillips driver on the end. You position it over the screw, and hit it with a hammer or mallet. No impact wrench is necessary.

with the above advise I think you will get it out no problem,if it indeed needs to be drilled out and the screw comes apart other then just the head coming off I would clean the hole to remove any debris that may be left behind and maybe run a tap of the correct size and pattern through the then empty slot to finish up.I have done this on many machines and cars and had good results.does this sound right for an nsx or is it overboard and risk damage to the thread pattern.let me know your thoughts guys as Ive never had to do it to my car yet and dont want to give out bad info.I was trained to do this when I was working on screws that needed drilling out.but found that many come out intact and dont need the extra care.any advise on post prep would be most welcome as I know its just a matter of time until I get a pesky one.only thing worse then the stuck screw is damaging the thread pattern while removing it.or worse case the screw is stuck because of cross threading

I hear you can buy a JDM impact driver with the Honda logo for $100.

With Harbor Freight, it's $6.99 plus $2.95 shipping and that beats $10.
