The OEM trim is an amazing piece of engineering in it's own right. It is large in size yet does not easily succumb structurally to the elements. The fit and finish on it is nothing short of perfect. Honda finished in a black chrome electroplate and coated it in a plastic to give it scratch resistance and durability. It does not get brittle and it takes a lot to get it to warp.

Reproducing this part properly poses several challenges. The screw locations for the ashtray, cointray and aspirator fan, the tabs used to secure it to the top and bottom need to be strong, the curve for the parking brake, the bevels for the stereo and climate control, the slotted opening for the aspirator fan, the heat resistance on the material used, etc.

Only problem is that the electroplate tends to bubble up. I don't think anyone will ever produce a piece that comes close to what Honda made. If you doing anything like deleting the stereo, ashtray, or mounting something in it, I'd highly encourage modifying the original piece if you want it to fit nicely. Every aftermarket piece I've seen looks far too subpar for something that is in plain view.
