Center console light brightness

When driving my NSX during the day when the sun is out, I find it's nearly impossible to read the center console displays. The clock is OK, the climate control is worse but legibile, and the stereo is so bad I usually go off of memory as to which button to push. To see what button does what, I have to cup my hands over the top of the display to read it, and even then it isn't all that bright.

I understand that mid-day sunlight isn't a friend of digital displays in cars, but I just get the feeling that the display lights are not bright enough.

Is this normal, or do I have a problem?

Thanks!

I find that this happens once in a while and is very dependent on the angle of the sun, whereas most of the time the displays are quite legible.

Maybe your daily commute puts the sun in just such an angle relative to your car.

I like to drive with my running lights in daylight, and when I put them on the display just disappears sometimes. When I got my car tinted it improved a bit, but yeah this is just something that most of us deal with.

This is NORMAL, but not desirable

IIRC, there was a DIY mod that allowed the panel lights stay at full brightness even if the running lights are engaged.

Does anyone have a link to this ?

Yes, it's called TURN OFF YOUR FRIGGIN' RUNNING LIGHTS.

That was the second thing I noticed the day I drove mine home (the first being the ugly ding the Acura dealer put in my rear quarter panel during the PPI). It doesn't bother me anymore, now that I know what/where everything is.

Thanks for the info, guys. One of the things I have working against me is the ivory seats in my '91....I do get a lot of reflection from the empty

passenger seat when I'm driving in daylight. Maybe a quick fix would be to find a babe wearing dark clothes to run around with.

FWIW, I have tint on the back and side windows with a black interior and have always been able to see everything fine. I can see how an NSX-T would have problems with the top off, but I've never had any when driving with the windows down.

I like how you think MvM!
