My center console is cracked on both sides by the ashtray. It looked like the a/c module wasn't set properly and it put the console cover in a bind and cracked it. I have straightened out the a/c module and now need a replacement console. What is my best course of action?

Any of the following:

- buy a new one at your dealer

- join the NSX Club and buy a new one from one of the dealers that gives great discounts to club members

- call ERZ and see if they have a used one they can sell you

- look for used ones (either by scanning the parts for sale listings, or by posting a parts wanted listing) in the marketplace forums on this site. Anyone who replaced their console as part of an aftermarket stereo installation might still have the old one around and be willing to sell it.

Anyone know if you can re-enforce the back portion with fiberglass and repaint it afterwards?

Even if you didn't want to repaint it, maybe you can buy a carbon fiber trim piece to add over top of it in order to hide the crack.

I'd check into the aftermarket realm. Dali Racing and ScienceofSpeed have replacement consoles.

Here's mine from ScienceofSpeed, after cut and color:

My console was done similar to this to convert it to single DIN, then painted Black to match the body. Wasn't glassed though...body filler was used, it is still not strong enough. I'm now replacing it with a carbon console piece which is lighter than the piece it's replacing and feels more rigid. I think fiberglassing would be a light and strong solution...but of course it's a pain to work with and is pretty stinky, not to mention you'd have to be very carefull not to make certain areas too thick and end up with a console that no longer sits flush. I'd stick with the solutions already offered up by the other guys...used oe replacement, aftermarket replacement, or a garnish kit.
