CEL code 46 after CAI and hard driving...

I recently installed a Downforce ram air intake along with the foam filter. After an afternoon of spirited driving with our Houston NSXs, I had a CEL on yesterday. Strangely, it disappeared just now as I drove home for lunch and trying to pull the code.

Anyhow, I pulled the code anyway and it's 46 (Rear Fuel Metering, too rich or too lean). What kind of problem do I have? Is it because of the new intake, the AF ratio is leaning out? What should I do now? I tried to do a search with downforce and CEL but nothing came up....

Thanks in advance,
Brian

The code 46 is a honda code...if you could get the Generic OBD2 code you would find that there are 2 codes for this in the OBD2 system P0171 (lean) P0172 (rich)...this may help you to track your problem...the Intake is unlikely related to your code being set....you need to monitor the O2 sensor for that bank, preferably with a graphing scanner or scope so that you can see if the O2 sensor is responding properly and if you are rich or lean at that bank.

What could be the reason that te CEL just dissappear? I didn't do anything different  . I guess my car wouldn't just fix itself....

Should I be concern and have someone pull the OBDII code?

This is what is known as a "Two Trip" code. What that means is that in two consecutive trips if you have the same failure, on the third trip the CEL is lit.

A "trip" is starting the car, running it, then shutting it down. So a trip to the grocery store is actually two trips, when you go out again and start the car it will gen the CEL light.

Also, two trip codes are reset, if in two consecutive trips, the failure is not detected. Maybe the fuel system needed a little bit of time to "adjust" to your changes:).

If the light does not return, no worries. Ifit does and is consistent, as zahntech points out, you really need an ODBII scanner so see the exact failure.
