my friend just bought a cd changer for his 91' and also bought the adapter for it. he purchased an alpine but when all hooked up the cd changer apears to have power but the head unit goes am-fm-am-fm and doesn't even show cd
anybody help here

Did he use the specific adaptor cable that is mentioned in the FAQ here, the one that switches pins 2 and 4 to enable the generic Alpine units to be used with the NSX head unit?

yea i believe it is the right adapted sa it has power to the cd changer and sound advise said it was the right one but for some reason the head unit doesn't think one is in the trunk?

As long as it is an M-bus changer the head unit should recognize it even without the adapter cable. In fact I'd try hooking it up without the adapter cable just to make sure it's not a bad adapter cable. You still want to use the adapter or the music won't sounds right, but for testing purposes it should work without it.

If that's not the problem, test a known-good CD changer in his car (or test his CD changer in another car).

If the problem is the changer, easy fix - just replace it with a good one.

If the problem is in the car, check all the cabling and then try swapping head units.
