Yes we did get lucky! The place next to use was a total loss, the fire started in their basement and took out the entire building. I was there until about 2:30am when they finally got it under control.
We will have to be shut down for 1-2 weeks because of water and smoke damage. We have insurance so it won't hurt us too bad, we are still going to pay our employees as it would effect them more to lose two weeks earnings.
Wow - that's really generous of you to still pay your employees! Wish I had an employer like you guys!

We have great employees and very little turn over for a restaurant but if we didn't offer pay during a shutdown this long we would definitely lose some good people. I am not involved in the day to day running of the restaurant, but I have a great partner that keeps it running smoothly and we both agree we wouldn't put all of the families through the sudden loss of income.
