Isn't this against the privacy act??????????? would you want someone posting the VIN number of your car around on forums for scammers and other people who don't need to see it will see it? what purpose is this post serving? if someone is selling a car its private information shared between the sellers and the purchaser. if i gave my VIN out when i was selling my NSX to a customer to check the Carfax, i would be pissed if that person went on a forum and started stating out VIN number info etc. Why dont you just post give people the address, and license plate numbers, and tell crooks the directions.

Exactly. What privacy act? I think there are some that may want to keep it private, but there is no "act" that I'm aware of. As far as HIPPA is concerned, that's only for medical issues. HIPPA=Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

I think our friend black may be referring to a non-existing protocol that should be named VIPPA: Vehicular Identification Privacy and Profitibility Act. This way you can profit from a salvaged vehicle and not have to disclose the information.
