Hi,

I'm in the process of replacing my f/r brake pads on my 97 NSX and is considering the Carbotech Bobcat shown here--->>> http://scienceofspeed.com/products/braking_performance_parts/NSX/carbotech/ My first question is, do these fit my 97? I noticed on the SOS website, that the Carbotech Panther Plus have all years of application, but the Carbotech Bobcats were not specific as to what year it's applicable to.

I mainly use my NSX for street and occassional track events. I would like to get some feedback on these brake pads from those who currently have them or had them. Thanks in advance.

I would not advise using the Bobcats for the track. I run nothing but Carbotech and have used everything from the Bobcats, Panther Plus', XP8 and the XP10's.

I can tell you now that the Bobcats are not going to cut it for the track. Street driving I use them on my daily driver and autox... but with the nsx's weight and speed, if you're a more experienced driver you will be able to overcook them real fast.

So just go ahead and step up to the Panthers...

Even though you only go a few times, that's all that matters.

I have them for my 1997 (street use) and they bite exceptionally well. I love them and would get them when it is replacement time. No regrets here for putting them on for street.

I have used the Carbotech Panther Plus on the street and track. They worked fine on the track. However, they squealed (LOUD!) on the street, and I stopped using them for that reason. (Maybe you don't care about noise, in which case you might like them.)

I now use the Cobalt GT Sport pads and have been extremely happy with them. Track performance as good as the Panther Plus, but with virtually no noise.

Wheelman, how are these interms of squealing on street use?

Ken, do you have the GT Sport pads for both front and rear? I went to the link you've attached and enter my car's info for the GT Sport pad and it came back with one that fits my car. It has a model/skew number of SKU: CRB.GTS.D503, but does not indicate if it's for the front or rear or both?

As far as the squealing, I would rather not have that (or limited to low to no noise) while driving around town. This is one of the reason (squealing and probably on my wear indicator) why I'm replacing my brake pads at this time.

I have used the GT Sport pads on the front of my NSX, and the front and rear of my Integra Type R (same front pad fitment as the NSX, but the rear is different). I think I have a set of rear pads for the NSX, just haven't actually installed them yet.

I just went to Cobalt's website and entered the 1991 NSX, and it came back with part numbers:

CRB.GTS.D503 Cobalt GT-Sport [FRONT] 1991-2004 Acura NSX $109.00
CRB.B.D503 Cobalt spec(B) [FRONT] 1991-2004 Acura NSX $139.00
CRB.VR.D503 Cobalt spec(VR) [FRONT] 1991-2004 Acura NSX $149.00
CRB.GTS.D504 Cobalt GT-Sport [REAR] 1991-2004 Acura NSX $95.00
CRB.VR.D504 Cobalt spec(VR) [REAR] 1991-2004 Acura NSX $129.00

(The GT-Sport is their street/track pad, the Spec VR is their more aggressive track-only pad. Both are highly recommended.)

Now I have to narrow down my decision on what to buy. Well, actually I have to see if I win or loose my bid on ebay for the FUNDRAISING effort for NSXPO 2006 in the next few days. If I loose the auction, then I will definitely go with the Colbalt GT-Sport. This set of replacement brake pads is going to hold me over until I'm ready to upgrade to a BBK in the future. Again, thanks for the information.
