Like many here, the factory finish on my 97 NSX has a few blemishes. I'm thinking of refinishing them. I know some strip the plastic wrap and repaint.

Any one done a refinish using 3M carbon fiber vinyl? See the pics below for a NSX done this way. The film apparently is heat gun friendly and can be shaped to wrap around curved pieces.

It's not the "putting it on" that is the issue. I have seen many instances were the interior ambient heat will cause it to release. If you are in TX, it may not be a good. long term, solution.

I can vouch for what Vroom said. I did this for my console and sure enough once the tempature rises in the cabin it started to lift. In my case it was the area to the lower left of the aspirator fan intake.

However, I've heard of people using super 77 adhesive while applying the application to reslove this issue, but I can't vouch for how well it works.

thats why the cheapo way is never the way to go.

sand it down and refinish it Proper.

the same goes for cheapo tires, if you cheap out and get Kuhmo's R499AZX67 etc. style tires its still cheap crap 26 dollars a tire.
your LIFE is in the tires hands on the road.

treat your NSX to the best.

From what I have seen of this stuff - best practice would be to strip the factory film off as others here have done before repainting. Then you have a pristine surface for the adhesive. Another brand of the vinyl has no adhesive of its own, and suggests/requires 3M adhesive 77.
