I get a good reading from the battery, but the car will not turn over. I hear a loud clicking noise coming from the rear of the car but thats about it. PLEASE HELP, Im still at work and would like to go home....

Any suggestions?

sounds like the starter to me. have someone tap on the starter with something to see if you get lucky with starting. If not, push start it(manual trans. only). Check for loose battery connections? Good Luck!!

Battery might give you a decent reading but still not have enough juice to turn over. Good advice regarding loose battery cables too.

Check the cables and try again. If no luck, jump start it following the instructions in your owner's manual. If it jumps fine, then your battery is the culprit.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

UPDATE_________

I got the car started by following the jumpstart instructions from the manual. Had one handy since I have another NSX in my shop. After jumping the car the oil pressure gauge was pegged at 8. What that signifies, I dunno. Any comments? Anyway, I let the car run for a few minutes and then turned it off. It wouldnt start again. Im now getting a low reading from the battery gauge as well. This battery is only 2 yrs old, is it time to buy a new one? I thought the battery would last longer than 2 years. Also, if the alternator was bad, how can I check this?

Thanks guys for all the help!

What do you think a good reading is from the battery? You should get about 12.8 to 13.2 from the battery with the car not running and 14.8 or more running. If you don't get the 14.8 then your alt. is bad but since the car will run but not start I would still look at the battery being bad. Take the car or just the battery a major auto parts store, most will do a load test on the battery to see if it's any good. If it's only 2 years old it should have some kind of warrantee on it.

Just a point of clarification. The factory service manual troubleshooting procedures indicate that 13.9-15.1v is normal with the engine running. Higher than 15.1 and you have a bad voltage regulator. Last time I measured mine I got a reading of 14.5 at idle.

And yes it is possible you have a bad battery even if it's only 2 years old. I've had really expensive aftermarket batteries that didn't make it to the 2 year mark.

I thought load testing was for checking alternator output on a running car. The click could be starter or solenoid not kicking in properly. Problem is not necessarily battery.

NONE OF THE ABOVE....

Thanks so much guys for all the help but I have found the culprit. I checked all the above and all seemed to be working fine. The ground that goes to the firewall was not well grounded. I wiggled the wire and the car fired right up. It took me a few hours of looking and testing, but I did get a new battery though! Oh well, Ill just look at the new battery as a preventative measure.

Brad at Autologic:

I called Brad to ask him for advice and what to look for but got his voicemail. Left him a measage telling him what was going on and he called me back 10 minutes later asking for directions to my office. He showed up 15 min. later with tools in hand. All this on a rainy sunday afternoon, now THATS a hell of a comittment to his clientel.

I had sort off had a similar situation happen to me. The black carry case that the battery sits in was bigger than my battery. So even with that metal battery holder, the battery would still slide left and right. This will eventually make a connection loose over time. I put some pieces of wood on both sides of the battery so the battery wouldn't slide anymore. Matter of fact, I had it happen at a NSX meet last year were the freakin negative post came completely off the battery post and I had to use some jumper cables to connect the negative cable to the battery. I went home like an injured soldier while everyone else was karting
