i will go to start my car but when i turn the key all i hear is clicking and the engine light flashes while it is clicking and it just turns over not start.

Sounds like a main relay issue. If it didn't turn over I would suspect a low battery or dirty/loose battery terminals. Do you hear the fuel pump come on then shut off(priming) when you turn the key to the on position?

I don't know about the clicking sound, but your problem sounds like it may be your Main Relay. When you first turn your key to the on position do you hear your fuel pump build up pressure (it will be a soft purr behind your right ear on the firewall)?

yea i do

To recap: Your engine is turning over (so battery is OK). You have some sort of electronic clicking (do you know where it is coming from and does it ever stop?)
So we assume you're getting fuel since the system is pressurizing (unless your filter or fuel line is completely clogged - improbable). The next thing I'd check is, are you getting spark from the sparkplugs?

the clicking is right behind me, with the key in the on position the clicking doesnt stop untill i turn the key to off. its a rapid clicking with the egnine light flashing along with it.

The battery is completely fine, has a full charge.

That is where the main relay is located.

the clicking is not happening when i hold it when starting, it is happening when i go to start and i release it with no hand onn the key its clicking.

I just ordered a main relay and see if it fixes it, it wasnt that much anyway well for me i work at a honda dealership. Well see what happens, thanks for your input

That is where the main relay is located. The main relay controls your power to the fuel pump. If it is bad (and they're a known defect on this car - they can be resoldered and fixed) your engine won't get fuel, and that was my original guess but you said you heard the system pressurizing so I moved on. Cross your fingers!
Happy Motoring!

Let's clear up a few things:

Does the engine turn over or is there a click and NO starter turning the engine?
If the engine isn't even turning over, do you have an alarm?
I have never seen a main relay cause the starter to not engage so we need to determine if the motor is turning over or not.

If the motor is turning over and it just won't start up and stay running, then I would agree to check the main relay.

The fact that you hear a clicking when you let go of the key makes me suspect an alarm component of some sort because a main relay problem and starter problem would not cause that. <--- But a bad ground might!

Hope this helps

the starter does engage, and the motor is turning over, i do have an alarm (viper), but i wouldnt thing the alarm would cause the car to shut down at idle even if it had a bad ground.

It would if it has an immobilizer circuit. In fact I think I have seen on this forum a couple of times that people had trouble starting their cars due to faulty alarms.

It started with the car turning off at idle, it would start back up then die 5-10 secs later, i started it up held it at 2k and it died with my foot still on the pedal

Take the main relay out and pop it open. Heat up the solder balls on the back side. Do NOT over heat!!! Just heat them enough to turn the solder back to liquid. Reinstall the relay. This shouldn't take long at all. This will rule out main relay.
Also, when it did start up and idle for a few seconds, did it idle normally or was it studdering? Feel free to call my cell if you want to talk. 919-539-2131
Thanks,
Jay

Edit: I can also help you troubleshoot the Viper as I have been installing them for 15+ years.

So i replaced the main relay yesterday and it worked, car started right up, lets hope it stays running lol, tanks for all your in puts

Had the same problem with a brand new DuraLast Gold battery! Voltage was high but turn the key and just clicking. Was confusing until I used a 100 amp battery load tester, voltage dropped to 8 volts! Turns out an internal buss bar broke between cells, you could actualy see it through the watering hole in one cell. Took the battery back to AutoZone and replaced it free, problem solved! High charge voltage alone is only a rule of thumb for testing a battery, you really need to load it down to be sure. Also replaced my engine and body ground straps to fix a weak ground issue. Now my headlights are bright again!

The battery is completely fine, has a full charge.
