Got in the car yesterday after an uneventful drive. turn key--nothing. as if the battery is not present. Of course, i'm at my friends house, and his toolkit consists of a screw driver, hammer, and a wrench. Period.
I thought it might be a fuse, but they all looked functional. Of course, he doesn't have a battery tester, so i found a wire, stripped it down, and tried to get a spark between the positive post on the fuse box and a ground. No dice, so i figured the battery wasn't making a good connection because of the corrosion on the terminal. I elected to use the hammer, since the wrench and screwdriver didn't seem to offer much hope. I beat the top of the battery terminal until most of the corrosion was gone... and the car works.
PS. no, he doesn't have baking soda, or any brush to clean the terminals with.
