I am looking at purchasing 1998 Classic Mfg. Tandem Axle Open Car Hauler that is in very good condition.
Although, It is located out of state, I have seen many pics of the trailer. My question is: With a bed measuring 15ft., overall length 18ft. 7in, is this sufficient for my NSX?

Any feedback is appreciated.
Cheers,
John B

An important thing to consider on a trailer with a shorter flat bed (as you have described) is to make sure the center of gravity on the car is centered over the tandem axles. Once on the trailer, if the car does not get over the wheels correctly due to length constraints of the flat bed surface then you may end up with excessive tongue weight, or too little tongue weight. The balance point of the NSX seems to be just forward of the rear wheels. If you measure the car from the point I am describing and compare it to the position of the wheels on this particular trailer you should have a good idea if the trailer will work for your needs. The ramp angle may prove to be more of a challenge. If the ramps are short as they are on most trailers the chin spoiler will want to drag during loading and unloading. This is an easy fix and may not be necessary if you get lucky.

Good Luck.

Hey Johnny, I trailer my NSX often these days, and my trailer has a bed length of 19ft, and the car fits comfortably. The physical length of the NSX is almost 15 ft, so a trailer with only 15 ft may be cutting it close. In some cases, the trailer deck is not 100% useful space... You could end up with a scenario where the tail of the car is hanging out over the edge (or the nose, if you back onto the trailer). This is OK, as long as the trailer is properly balanced, but your car is not as well protected while underway.

Perhaps you can call a local trailer dealer that may have something comparable, and go and physically 'test load' your car to check for clearences.

You might want to take a look at these pics of my car and my trailer.

I to have a Texas Rollback trailer and let me tell you how easy it is to put the NSX on. All you have to do is remove three pins on the trailer, apply the electric brake and back the trailer back for it to lower. Lowers down to a 5 degree level. Even with my car at 3.5" off the ground in the front makes it a piece of cake to put the car on the trailer. Be careful on what trailer you get because if the weight is not placed right on the trailer, you will have it fish tail if you go over a certain speed  Trust me I know. I rented a trailer which was a PITA to put my car on and did the previoulsy mentioned scenario. Because of this, I had to drive almost cross state at a max of 35 mph to prevent this, or my car/truck might have ended in the ditch

Mark B,

Were you at the NSXPO DE event in Oct? I think I recall seeing this setup there.

and again, thanks all who replied, this has been very helpful,

cheers,

How about the center jack point?

In any trailering situation, more weight should be palced forwrad, toward the tounge. 60% weight forward is about right. That figure would be for the entire payload, which might include tools, racks, wheels, tires, etc. Less than that and the risk of the trailer swaying increases.

Are you referring to a certain Glen stripe? What Glen stripe? Why, my bumper is a pristine Sebring Silver, of course...

"That" "Glen Stripe" buffed out quite well.

I am actually in the process of upgrading to a Type-R application (hood, spoiler, and suspension). It should be complete by the end of January. I will post pics then.

Thats funny,I forgot about your stripe,Mark(nsxnut)lol,I was refering to Mark B.
