Car faster with reset ECU?

Recently I have had to disconnect my battery a few times while working on my car and I swear my car feels more powerful the first run after the reset ECU.
I have a '97 with standard CTSC and I am wondering if this is just my imagination or if there is a physical / mechanical / electrical explanation.

That is not unlikely. After a reset the ecu has to use a default fuel map untill it can collect enough data from the o2's and other sensors to make adjustments. I would assume it would error on the rich side which would make more power then the lean or emission controled side.

This would lead me to believe some dyno tuning time is in order even with the limited tuning one can do with the stock Comptech kit.
