Darn, it looks like the FIA decided to cancel the Canadian Grand Prix in order to make room for one of the new Grands Prix next year. There were 18 Grands Prix contemplated (adding China and Bahrain) and only 17 slots. The 16 for 2003, comprise Australia, Maylasia, Brazil, San Marino, Spain, Austria, Monaco, Canada, France, England, Germany, Hungary, Italy, USA and Japan. Austria is getting dropped for 2004, leaving 15, but then you have to add back in Belgium which was left off the 2003 schedule in a spat over tobacco advertising. Thus you still have 16, plus the 2 new ones which leaves 18 when the Concorde Agreement only allows for 17. Thus one GP had to bite the dust. Too bad, as Montreal was a favorite not only of the fans, but also with the teams and drivers. Now I have to figure out what to do for the 2nd weekend in June. Hmmmmmmm maybe a 24 hour race?

I agree, TG is killing CART and dumbing it down to NASCAR. The IRL is little more than wrestling with motors. With that, I am attending the USPG, even though I will have to hold my nose. I have been going to Canada sine 1985, it is an incredible time. The city is way more interesting, and has more things to do, than Indianapolis. Oh well!

Yeah, I read that too. But with the need to open a space for Bahrain or China, one GP has to go. I would not be surprised if they put Canada back on, because it really is a great race.
